Win a Crossbow

As the Summer sun begins to fade and the leaves turn brown, so too does the Shire of Côte du Ciel prepare for the Winter Days.  During this time, the harvest of our Shire’s members must once again be delivered safely to the markets, which will pay us for our grain.  As the harvest has increased, so too has the desire for the proceeds which this bounty reaps.  We fear, as has been the case in years past, that the evil Grain Alliance will once again attempt to relieve the Shire of its rightfully earned harvest funds.  We do call, therefore, upon our friends and allies, in whatsoever clime they may find themselves, to join us in defense of our lands and livelihood.

Yes, once again, Harvest War is upon us, and this year we’ve extended it one more day, beginning Sept 18 and ending on the 21.  Site opens at noon on Thursday and closes at 4 PM on Sunday.  Anyone wishing to come earlier than Thursday to set up is welcome to do so.   However, fees for the group sites in this campground range from $25 to $50 per site per day, and those coming earlier than Thursday must pay this site to the camp hosts themselves.  Fines of $200 can be assessed by the Forestry Rangers and Personnel if this site fee is not paid, so please be aware of this if you wish to set up camp earlier than Thursday.

Also, this year we will be having a few classes.  So, if you are interested in teaching a class, please contact the event steward.  A list of classes will appear in the September Sage Advice, as well as registration information.  There are no scheduled feasts, however, new battle scenarios are being planned as we write this missive.

Fees:

Family Cap $50
Adult (16 or older) $15
12-15 years of age $12
6-11 years of age $7
Under 6 free

A $3 surcharge will be assessed on any paying guest who does not present a valid SCA membership card in their name (we don't like it, either).

As part of a shire fundraiser, this crossbow will be given away Saturday evening to a lucky person.  Click here for details.

We look forward to seeing our friends and neighbors, and plan to have a great time.  The site is once again in Mantua Campground.  Merchants are welcomed and adored.  If you are interested in being a merchant, please contact the merchanting steward.  If you have any questions, please contact the Event Steward.
