Here are some things to keep in mind when you are on the battlefield in Artemisia:

All archers in Artemisia are 'heavy'. They wear standard armor and should be prepared to receive blows from their opponents.
All combat archers must pass an authorization procedure for missile combat before they are allowed on the battlefield.
Archers may wear two demi-gauntlets on their hands while using their bow/crossbow. Thrown weapons require the use of a full gauntlet.
Crossbow prods should be tethered (i.e., have a tie running from tip to tip) with a rawhide or other equivalent cord, or covered with a minimum of chap weight (4 oz) leather.
There is no minimum distance for launching an arrow at your enemies, except that the arrow/bolt must clear the bow/crossbow.
Archer who wish to switch to a backup weapon must first remove their bow/crossbow from the field (or hand it to another combatant) and then don adequate hand protection for their backup weapon.
Archers may choose to yield rather than be struck, but should be prepared to receive a blow nonetheless.
Missile weapons should not be launched at the backs of opposing fighters. Archers may not perform a Kill From Behind.
