- All oncampus students must submit a POS by the end of their second semester.
- At most, 15 Credits of 5000 level
- Meet Placement Requirements
- Must take at least four CS Courses that are 6000 or above (does not include CS 6900 or CS 6970)
- CS 6900 Passed in 1st Semester of 1st Year
- CS 6250 and 6990 CANNOT be counted on the Program of Study.
- Classes below 5000 CANNOT be counted on Program of Study.
- CS 5060 cannot be include on your POS unless it is required.

- CS5200 is the same as the sequence of courses ECE6600 and ECE 7610. Students can include CS 5200 on their Program of Studies, or they can include ECE6600 and ECE 7610,but not both CS 5200 and one or both of those ECE courses. Students can use ECE7610 as a prerequisite to CS6200.
- CS 5950 or CS 6950 or CS7950 can be taken only with advisor's prior permission and only for 3 credits at a time. In the MS program, CS6950 or CS7950 can count as one of the (4) 6000-level courses and the maximum total number of credits allowed for CS 5950 plus CS 6950 plus CS7950 is 3. In the MCS program, the maximum total number of credits allowed for CS 5950 plus CS 6950 plus CS7950 is 3(with previous MS) or 6 (without previous MS).
- No more than two courses used to satisfy these requirements can have grades below B-.
- No courses used to satisfy these requirements can have grades below C.
- Students must maintain a 3.00 GPA on all courses they take as a graduate student on all courses numbered 5000 or above.
- Students must maintain a 3.00 GPA on all courses shown on his or her Program of Study Form.
- Student must maintain a 3.0 on all courses taken as a matriculated graduate student.
- Student must maintain a 3.0 all CS courses numbered 5000 or above
- Plan A - 30 credits of all course work (Thesis Option) Must include 6 credits of CS 6970.
- Plan B - 34 credits of course work (Report Option) Must include 2 or 3 credits of CS 6970.
- Plan C - 37 credits of course work (Coursework Option) Cannot include any credits of CS 6970, but must include both courses in at least one of the following pairs
- (CS 5050 & CS 6050) or
- (CS 5200 & CS 6200) or
- (CS 5300 & CS 6300) or
- (CS 5600 & CS 6600) or
- (CS 5650 & CS 6650) or
- (CS 5700 & CS 6700) or
- (CS 5800 & CS 7670) or
- (CS 6100 & CS 7100) or
- (CS 5455 & CS 6455) or
- (CS 6450 & CS 7450) or
- (two of CS 5/6370 & CS 7350 & CS 7380) or
- (two of CS 5500 & CS 6500 & CS 6550 & CS 7550) or
- (two of CS 5650 & CS 6630 & CS 6650 & CS 7650 & CS 7680) or
- (two of CS 5660 & CS 5670 & CS 6670).
Graduate students will be required to satisfy the departmental placement requirements. The rules governing placement are explained more fully in the departmental memorandum on placement.
Requirements may change from time to time, so students are advised to check with the department or their advisor to determine whether the requirements at the time of graduation or in the first semester of registration as a graduate student will have effect.
Graduate level courses taken outside the Computer Science Department should be approved prior to registration by the candidate's committee and department head. Independent Studies courses will not be approved.
